The press molded vase series started in 1997 while Kenney was creating ceramics at his Santa Barbara studio. Slabs of textured clay are joined together in rectangle concrete block molds. After the clay walls stiffen up a slab is added to the open end and opening is cut out near the top. Drying, bisque firing and glaze firing follow. Sometimes overglazes and lusters are added in a third firing.
Each piece is created individually by the artist from start to finish. The press molded vase series on this site are currently for sale unless otherwise noted. They are located at the San Diego area studio.
Shipping and handling to continental US has been included in the price of the work. International, Alaska and Hawaii shipping is at a different rate. Please contact the artist to get a quote.
